Retreats at La Retraite

La Retraite means 'the Retreat' and the school was set up by the Sisters of La Retraite (Les Soeurs de la Retraite), a French Order, in 1880. When they began in 1674 in Brittany, France, the Sisters provided retreats for women, opportunities for them to escape from the burdens of their everyday lives, to contemplate their relationship with God, and to develop as a whole person. When they started La Retraite Girls' School in Balham, they offered the same opportunities to the students and Retreats became a key feature of the school calendar.

We continue that tradition today and offer a range of Retreats for each year group so that whatever they students' Faith, be they Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, or have no Faith, they will have an opportunity to seek inner stillness, meaning, and focus in their lives, remembering that every person counts.
