PSHCE
Personal Social Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) at La Retraite is delivered across the curriculum and through a series of off timetable days (one each half term) for Years 7-11 and through an hour every week in the Sixth Form.
The PSHCE curriculum covers Citizenship, Personal Wellbeing, Economic Wellbeing and Financial Capability. Each half term, students focus on one of these areas of study throughout their curriculum and during their 'off timetable' day. During her time at La Retraite your daughter, will regularly revisit each of the three areas of study to ensure she has developed the knowledge and understanding, to enable her to become a well developed citizen of our future society.
LA RETRAITE RC GIRLS SCHOOL STUDENTS DONATE £3000 TO TRINITY HOSPICE
Year 9 Students at La Retraite have taken part in the Youth and Philanthrophy Initiative. The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an international programme that aims to develop the community leaders of the future. Participants are given a hands-on experience of philanthropy that provides them with the skills and awareness to make a positive difference to their communities.
Year 9 students have been working in small groups to research the social needs of their local community and identify the grassroots social service charity they believe is best placed to make a positive contribution. The pupils encouraged community cohesion by visiting their chosen charity during the Easter holiday to find out more information about the charity. They learnt how the charity budgets, its strategy and staff arrangements.
Each group of students prepared a presentation based on their local charity
The winning presentation was delivered by Stephanie, Sheena, Catarina, Anita, Gwendolyn and Klaudia in 9 Mozart and the pupils received £3000 for their chosen charity Trinity Hospice.
Sheena’s Poem about why Trinity Hospice deserves £3000
“Living every moment”, or so the saying goes
But recently it’s hard to cope, and no one else can know.
As my worries grow and grow, the kind staff offer me care
It makes it so much easier- this my real nightmare
The days are filled with activity, and lots of things to do
Cooking, art and music to stop us felling blue!
It’s hard to face what's coming next, I'm nervous, to be fair
But when my family struggle with care, Trinity Hospice is there.
