Retreat & Pilgrimage

This year, we had a visit and a short time of prayer at the Greek Orthodox Church.

Year 8 Patience students were accompanied by staff to attend a day of exploration and reflection at the Greek Orthodox Church in Crystal Palace. Fr Georghios Christides, priest-in-charge, explained to the students the different areas of the church, including the altar, Iconostasis and the Icons. The students were also introduced to the different Sacraments of the Church and heard in detail about the Holy Communion.

Students also spent time in prayer and lit candles to symbolise the rising of their prayers to God.

Also during the year, we were planning to have Year 9 Retreat led by the Jesus Youth Group in the school chapel, which unfortunately could not take place due to the lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19 disease.
