La Retraite Legacy
GCSE: Year 11 continue record of outstanding GCSE results
Our Year 11 cohort are celebrating after adding themselves to the La Retraite record books of incredible GCSE results.
Although in unusual circumstances, the grades awarded to students are a reflection of their effort and determination throughout their time at La Retraite. Whilst they are not ending their school year as they had hoped, we are thrilled that they are able to look back on their achievements with pride.
Our Head of Year 11 was delighted to see students awarded results that were a testament to their work over the last two years: “I am incredibly proud of the achievements of all of our students. We challenge every girl to succeed through a nurturing culture that promises an excellent education and innovative teaching, and so I am delighted that so many of our girls are celebrating today as a result”.
Year on year, our students attain excellent results that continue to build upon our history of academic success and this year is no different. Across the board, subjects excelled.
In addition, we have seen some outstanding individual performances and spoke to some of our students to find out more about their La Retraite experience:
Asia Roberts: 3 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s
“La Retraite has not only enabled me to excel in my GCSEs but has extended my learning beyond the classroom. I have benefitted from experiences I never would have had the opportunity to, broadened my knowledge of life after school and gained valuable new skills. I advise every student to seize every opportunity as they will put you at a great advantage in the future”.
Bianca Da Cruz: Achieved 8 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s
“I would recommend La Retraite because the teachers have been incredibly supportive throughout during my GCSEs and prepared me for what was to come. I look forward to attending the LR6 and build upon my success”.
Roxanne Crossland: 3 Grade 9s and 5 Grade 8s
“At La Retraite, you are not only given the opportunity to achieve excellence in your education, but personally as well. Opportunities to develop leadership skills, participate in extra-curricular experiences and much more have enhanced my CV and will positively impact my university applications”.
Our Headteacher, Dominic Malins, commented: "Congratulations to all of our Year 11 students, not only for securing a set of outstanding results, but for rising to the challenge in the most difficult circumstances and completing the academic year with commitment and grace. Credit must be given to students for their hard work and determination, these results are a true reflection of all that they have worked towards, and our staff who work hard to provide the highest standard of education for every one of our girls. We look forward to welcoming many of them back to the LR6 in September, where we are certain they will continue their academic success”.
La Retraite 6: Sixth Formers do us proud with outstanding results
Our 2020 leavers are celebrating an excellent set of A Level and Vocational grades. This year may be remembered for other reasons, but our sixth formers can always look back on some wonderful achievements.
Whilst they are not ending their school journey as anyone planned them to, they leave us with a fantastic platform to achieve the success they deserve, with every student securing a place at university who wanted one.
We have long been known for outstanding results, as year after year our students make the most of the education on offer to secure places on prestigious undergraduate courses and higher-level apprenticeships. This year is no different.
We pride ourselves on our unique Sixth Form offer, which equips every student with the experiences, knowledge and attributes to succeed in an ever-changing and ever-advancing world, and embark upon their chosen future pathway. Director of La Retraite 6, Ruth Coyle was delighted to see so many students reach their chosen destinations: “The achievements of our students have come as a direct result and reward of their passion, dedication, adaptability and resilience. We work hard to provide a learning environment that inspires every learner, where they prosper and cement the foundations for their future success. Our unique Sixth Form provides every student the opportunity to explore their ambition for the future and supports them every step of the way to achieve it.
