Steps to Success Programme

Our Steps to Success Careers Programme is tailored to fit the needs of each year group, with activities and learning opportunities developed to ensure each key stage develops their employability skills. Below is a rough outline of the core tuition each year group will receive as part of the programme.

YEAR 7
  • Introduction to Unifrog to enable students to log achievements and clubs etc.
  • English department trips to the Globe theatre highlighting Careers in the Arts.
  • Opportunity to join the School Council, participate in the STEM club.
  • Students on target to achieve 5 subjects at level 7 and above will be invited onto the Programme
  • Growth Mindset activities
YEAR 8
  • PSHE lessons using Oxford University Careers Service
  • STEM PSHE day
  • Students record evidence of their skills on Unifrog and start to explore the super curriculum.
  • Registration with IGGY, Warwick University
  • WCIB Competition
YEAR 9
  • Evaluating what type of jobs suit your skillset
  • Session with Fast Tomato with the school careers advisor.
  • Options Programme
  • Guided pathways to a successful future
  • Choosing a creative option
  • Learn to Earn Day
  • Introducing Labour Market Information. Sessions with link employer ACCA and Railway delivery group.

YEAR 10
  • Opportunity to join the Student Leadership Team
  • Careers Fair to expose students to a range of occupation available
  • Inspiring the Future volunteers

YEAR 11
  • Individual interviews with an independent Careers Advisor & Sixth Form guidance interviews
