The Harlequins come to La Retraite

Posted on: 7th Jun 2021

On Monday 7 June Elle Bloor, a Harlequins Player and Community Coordinator, came to visit and coach La Retraite PE lessons with the aim to introduce an introductory tag session for Year 7 and Year 9.

All students that partook in the workshops really enjoyed the opportunity to work with Elle and learnt a range of rugby skills and techniques. This fantastic opportunity will continue into next academic year with the aim to keep our students physical and maintaining a healthy active lifestyle and learning new sports in our curriculum.  Also through these workshops students will have the chance to join community rugby clubs, if they want to pursue a pathway in rugby.

Elle responded about the intro summer term workshops: “It was a great opportunity for me to come into the school and deliver introductory tag rugby sessions to some of the Year 7 and 9 students, many of whom had not experienced any rugby before. In spite of the hot weather the students applied themselves to the session and took on the challenge of a new sport, it would be fantastic to see some of these girls thinking about going down to their local club to try the real thing. Thank you to Miss Clark and the team for facilitating Harlequins coming into the school.” Elle Bloor – Harlequins Player & Community Co-ordinator
