Harvest Donations to Clapham Food BankPosted on: 24th Nov 2020
This year’s Harvest Festival celebration was marked by donations of food items and toiletries to Clapham Park Foodbank. It was commendable to see so many students and staff donating items to the Foodbank in spite of the struggles they themselves were facing due to the Pandemic.
The Foodbank has given us a special certificate as a recognition for the donations made by staff and students.
Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in local areas. Providing emergency food to people in crisis. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems. Schools, churches, businesses and individuals donate non-perishable, in-date food to a foodbank. Large collections often take place as part of Harvest Festival celebrations and food is also collected at supermarkets.
